COMING HOME: A SĀMYA RETREAT

Saturday 23rd October – Thursday 28th October 2027
Ourika Valley, Morocco

Away from the rush of the world, this is an invitation to return. Five nights centered on practice, heritage, and the deep comfort of belonging—quiet mornings in the valley, unhurried afternoons, and soulful nights under the stars.

Coming Home is about more than a destination. It’s about embodying the Sāmya vibe in a land deeply personal to us. Jade, co-owner of Sāmya and a native of Morocco, welcomes you to his roots for an immersion that explores the "home" within your own body and the vibrant culture of the Ourika Valley.

Marhaba—you're welcome here.

ABOUT   THE RETREAT

WHY THIS RETREAT

Coming Home is an exploration of belonging. It is a week dedicated to discovering what "home" truly means—finding it within the rhythm of your own breath, the strength of your body, and the warmth of a shared table.

Each day is anchored by steady practices—meditation and breath-led movement in the morning, and slower sessions in the late afternoon—to help you cultivate a reliable sense of home within yourself. In between, we explore home through connection: gathering for nourishing local meals, sharing stories, and closing our evenings with the collective resonance of yin and live music.

Surrounded by the ancient energy of the Atlas Mountains, the rhythm is unhurried on purpose. You're invited to be looked after, to breathe more gently, and to remember what it feels like to find home both in your own skin and in the company of others.

WHO IT'S FOR

Come as you are—curious beginner, returning practitioner, or someone simply craving a clearer head and a kinder pace. If you’ve felt stretched thin, if sleep has slipped, or if you want practices that meet you without pressure, you’ll feel at home here. Solo travellers, friends and partners are all welcome; we keep the group intimate and the teaching inclusive, with options offered throughout so you can choose what serves you on the day.

YOU'LL LEAVE WITH

By the end of our five nights together, you’ll have a felt sense of home and everyday tools to keep it: a simple morning sequence, down-shifting breathwork for stressful moments, and a renewed sense of connection. Expect steadier sleep, a quieter mind, and a body that has been listened to. You’ll leave with new friendships and a gentler rhythm to carry back into your life.

YOUR HOSTS

Laura + Jade
The founders of Sāmya Studios

Coming Home is a retreat born from a shared love of movement, heritage, and the deep sense of belonging found in community.

Laura and Jade are the founders of Sāmya Studios, a space dedicated to mindful movement, breath, and deep rest in Islington, London. Together, they bring their complementary perspectives—yoga, breathwork, and deep embodiment alongside a profound, personal connection to Moroccan culture—to create an experience that explores what it means to find home within yourself and with others.

With over a decade of teaching experience, Laura weaves together yoga, breathwork, somatics, and sound healing to create practices that feel both grounding and expansive. Rooted in the philosophy that slowing down makes us stronger, Laura guides with an intuitive, cyclical approach—encouraging you to listen inward and honour your own rhythm.

Retreat   Highlights

The Venue

Our home for the week is Bab Zouina, set at the foot of the Atlas Mountains in the Ourika Valley. Surrounded by olive trees and mountain views, the venue features a secluded swimming pool and lush terraced gardens. The rooms are unique, light-filled, and spread across several ecological buildings inspired by traditional earth architecture. The property is sustained by its own vegetable garden and is designed to offer both spacious areas for community gathering and private nooks for solitude. It’s a soulful sanctuary perfectly suited for practice, shared Moroccan and Berber meals, and slow evenings.

The Rooms

Each room is a unique, light-filled sanctuary decorated with local hand-woven textiles and traditional Moroccan touches. Built using authentic earth architecture to keep the temperature perfect, the buildings are spread across Bab Zouina's wide domain, with rooms available in single, double, or triple configurations.

The pool

At the heart of the grounds is a secluded swimming pool, set among the gardens with views toward the Atlas Mountains.

The gardens

Bab Zouina is wrapped in lush terraced gardens, rose trees, olive groves, lavender-lined trails, a vegetable garden, quiet benches, and the gentle sound of birdsong—a perfect backdrop for your moments of solitude.

The traditional hammam

Our retreat offers a traditional Moroccan hammam, along with oil massage and shiatsu sessions upon request. This ancient steam and scrub ritual is a vital part of the coming home experience, allowing you to physically soften and shed the noise of the outside world.

Cuisine

Nourishment is the heart of the Moroccan home. We'll share seasonal, farm-to-table vegetarian meals featuring produce picked daily from their vegetable garden. From traditional sunrise breakfasts to sunset tagines shared family-style, every meal is an invitation to slow down and connect.

Local culture

Moroccan life is centered around simple hospitality and community. We’ll visit the vibrant local souks and nearby Berber villages, offering a glimpse into the rhythms and traditions that make this part of the world feel so welcoming.

Nature

The Ourika Valley is a landscape of raw, grounding beauty. Our days are framed by the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and the gentle rhythm of the river below. Whether we are trekking through wildflower-filled foothills or stargazing under the vast, unpolluted night sky, the natural world acts as a mirror, helping us find a sense of stillness and scale.

Communal Spaces

This is a place designed for both connection and solitude. From the cosy fire pit and rooftop terraces to shared meals, there are endless spaces to feel at home.

The Practice Spaces

We’ll move through our week in the property's most beautiful practice spaces—from the rooftop terrace facing the Atlas Mountains for a mid-morning flow, to the spacious indoor shala, fully equipped, for a cosy evening yin and breathwork.

Extras

Optional add-ons may include massages and wellness treatments (at an additional cost). You’ll also receive a small welcome goody bag on arrival.
